Vintage Chinese Blue and White Porcelain Ginger Jar with Cover. It is of ovoid shape with a well fitting domed lid, decorated in Cobalt Blue on a White background. The Exterior features a Traditional Chinese Scene with floral motifs, rock work and architectural elements. The base bears a red four character seal mark applied under the glaze and the jar is neatly potted with a recessed rim. Light age related wear to the rim at the base of the jar, no chips, cracks or restoration. This item is commonly referred to as a Ginger Jar. It was originally use for storing spices or preserves.
