This is a Chokin Art decorative porcelain plate, featuring a scene of birds and cherry blossoms engraved in copper and gilded with 24k gold and silver. The "Chokin" art form involves engraving images onto pure copper, which are then gilded with gold and silver. This ancient Japanese technique was originally used to decorate the armour and armaments of Samurai warriors over 800 years ago. The plate has a 24 karat gold edge. It is a vintage item and a collectable piece. The original box only shows slight wear, due to storage and age. Size: 6" in diameter.
