Makoto Orui (1949-)
From the early 70s, he worked as a designer for the magazine "ROCKIN'ON." In the 80s, he established "Fiction inc." Through the publication of "SALE2" and his design work, he was one of the first to introduce core Western artists like John Willie and fetish culture to Japan, creating the opportunity for it to take root as a culture. Later, he served as art director for the magazine "purple," and under the name RSP (Radical Silence Production), he published "THE international" and screened cult films by Russ Meyer at "videotheque." In the 90s, he opened the gallery and nightclub "THE deep" in Tokyo. With "DEEPER THAN UNDERGROUND" as one of its concepts, it expanded to Paris in the late 90s. He held photography exhibitions by Daido Moriyama, etc., and has lived in Paris since the 2000s. He has been a catalyst for numerous booms, and continues to exert influence across genres based on his delicate aesthetic sense and pure sensibility towards art and eroticism.
