During a Marie Claire magazine assignment, I spent a week walking around a Frankfurt brothel. There were three rules in the club: no women, no photography, no filming. Signs were posted everywhere. Pimps carried guns, and the women used high heels as weapons. Men wandered the hallways from morning till night, and the women lay in wait. They knitted, gossiped, and stared blankly at the television screen. There were floors for Western women, Asian women, and black women. I didn't get too close. I hid a small camera in my jacket pocket, but it was too noisy. I pretended to be interested and quickly left, coughing to drown out the sound of the camera.

This is a story about the relationship between perversion and creation, the oscillation between the base and the sublime. I returned with a silent video camera. The lens was hidden in a hole in a badge. I was able to enter the room. One girl noticed something and seemed to think it was a gun. I got scared and bought a gun. Another girl seemed to think I was suspicious and sounded the alarm. With her German Shepherd dog following behind, I tried to escape...
