A stunning book with 12 color plates, one tipped in at frontispiece, all under their original tissue guards, and many other text illustrations in black and white by Mabel Lucie Attwell, in full dark blue “genuine leather” with gilt lettering to exterior, gilt to all page ends, silk moiré end papers, and blue silk ribbon marker, this is a presumed first printing of the First Thus Edition of the Attwell illustrated Facsimile 1st Edition, “printed and bound in Great Britain”, of “Peter Pan and Wendy” (London, Hodder & Stoughton, 1949) by J M Barrie. The last date on the copyright page is Renewal 1949 after the 1911 and 1921 Scribner’s and Hodder first editions. Other than the that, there are no statements of date.
The book is stunning and in fine condition. All plates and pages are present. Binding is square and firm with no exterior flaws. Interior contents are fine with no errant marks or names. Few minor scuffs to bottom page ends.
