Nature Engraving Box Fish Hand Colored Ca. 1840 Wm. Jardine

This is an authentic antique engraving published by naturalist Sir William Jardine bet. 1833-43. The hand colored Spotted Ostracion was originally published in the Ichthyology volumes of "The Naturalist's Library". The print measures 6 3/8" x 4". Included is the original description published along with the print. You can find other Jardine's for sale, but not with the description pages attached. (Note from Davis Galleries erroneously refers to print as a lithograph.) In very good condition with no tears, folds, or stains; there is minor edge foxing. Guaranteed to be an authentic period print. Optional mat is 10" x 12¼" with a gold line around the opening. To purchase the mat also, the cost will be $10, which covers the mat and extra shipping.
