This set is comprised of 3 beautiful pieces.
1. Rare Antique Chinese "Wanyu玩玉 " marked open carved "rice eyes" porcelain rice or soup bowl in blue, red, and gold CHINA JINGDEZHEN 4.5". Delicate hand painting and design work. Has small chip on outer edge. See picture for details.
2. Vintage blue & white porcelain rice grain pattern sauce / trinket bowl. These small low bowls are traditionally used for fruit or condiments but can be used as decorative trinket bowls. DIMENSIONS: approx 1" h x 3" diameter.
3. Vintage hand painted Chinese porcelain blue and white rice / soup spoon with rice eyes pattern hand painted in blue, red, and gold. 5-1/2 inches long.
The ‘rice’ shapes are made by carefully cutting out pieces from the porcelain (not by imbedding pieces of rice). When glazed, the cut outs create this characteristic translucency. When held to the light, these windows glow (see pictures). The underglaze blue & white pattern has been made in China for at least one hundred years.
