The Chaco Culture America the Beautiful quarter is a coin issued by the
United States Mint in 2012 as part of the America the Beautiful Quarters
Program. It commemorates the Chaco Culture National Historical Park,
which is located in northwestern New Mexico and contains the most
extensive collection of ancient pueblo ruins in the Southwest. The
design features a depiction of a Chacoan kiva, which is a ceremonial
structure used by the ancient Pueblo people for religious and community
gatherings. The reverse also includes the inscriptions "Chaco Culture,"
"New Mexico," "E Pluribus Unum," and the year of issuance. The America
the Beautiful Quarters Program is a series of coins that honor some of
America's most iconic and beloved natural and cultural landmarks.
